Acoustic Pink Floyd Classically trained French guitarist Francois Wiss brings his unique Pink Floyd interpretation to Cafe Wha? for an early acoustic set. This is a great way to experience the incredible songcraft of the British experimental pop masters, whose music occasionally gets overshadowed by lush production and larger-than-life stadium shows. Wiss studied music at the Conservatoire in Paris, and was mentored on the nylon strings by notable guitar masters including Pierre Cullaz, Marc Benguigui, Belaid Ait Abdallah, Terry Fleming and Mathias Berchadsky. From Cafe Wha? website ____________________ Latin Guitar Fest A trio of international Latin guitar heroes let their fingers fly for one special night of passionate playing and acoustic guitar mastery. The latest disc from famed fusion artist Bela Beledo is Montevideo Jazz Dreams, named after his hometown in Uruguay. Brazilian Richard Boukas has championed the music of his beloved country throughout his successful 30-year career as a guitarist, vocalist and composer, and New York-based Frenchman Francois Wiss combines European and rock rhythms with flamenco, salsa, cumbia and more for his signature sound. From B.B. King Blues Club website ____________________ The Music of Buena Vista Social Club The Buena Vista Social Club has always been more than a place: The long-shuttered nightspot has lent its name to Grammy-winning albums, an Oscar-nominated documentary and, most importantly, to a musical genre celebrating Cuba's "Golden Age" -- the vibrant sounds of the '30s, '40s and '50s. Now a red-hot trio of musicians, lead by guitarist-vocalist Francois Wiss, pays tribute to this dynamic and danceable music in a special concert at Café Wha? Wiss studied music at the Conservatoire in Paris, where he was mentored by several guitar masters including the legendary Pierre Cullaz. Now, joined by Damian Quinones (guitar and vocals) and Danny Valdez (percussion and vocals), he will perform such Buena Vista Social Club favorites as "Chan Chan," "El Payande," "Se Seco el Arroyito" as well as many others. From Cafe Wha? website ____________________ World Music New York based guitarist and singer Francois Wiss mixes flamenco with Latin, folk, rock, jazz, and can be described best as “world music”. Improvisation and spontaneity are two key components of every performance, making each one of them unique. From Subrosa website ____________________ If you haven't seen Francois perform yet your missing out on a Great night of fun. Francois's playing is passionate, dynamic with a dedication to the guitar that's just breath taking. Also when he plays a song he makes it his own and it's new again with a sense of rhythm and style that will leave you smiling. He plays Flamenco with precision and fire along with a sense of Jazz, Rock and Swing that's just so much fun to listen to. I highly recommend a night out with Francois, you won't regret it.
